Teagan (00:00): Well, we finally did it Krystal.
Krystal (00:02): We finally did it.
Teagan (00:04): We're here. We have our first episode of Nibble + Splash. You have your host getting introduced in this episode, and you have Moi, Tegan Carpenter
Krystal (00:13): And Moi Krystal Rogers . We just went very French. We did, we're very inspired from the Olympics being on in Paris at the moment.
Teagan (00:21): Wii .
Krystal (00:23): . And we like to tangent a lot.
Teagan (00:25): Oh, tangenting is what we do, baby. But anyway, in this episode, we share our vision for the podcast. You get to know the dynamics behind our friendship and our backgrounds, where we come from, the inspiration behind Nibble + Splash the brand, and also what you as the listeners can expect in future episodes, including all the topics we're gonna talk about. So here we go.
Teagan (00:46): This is Tegan and we are gonna introduce ourselves as best we can in a quick introductory episode, just so you can know a little bit about our background. So then you know who you're listening to and what kind of things we get up to. So I grew up in hospitality through and through. If you do know me already, you know that my baby is Vintage Chef Co. Which is a food business that I started from the ground up in the, in the little Old Town Lyndoch, which is in the Barossa Valley South Australia. And I have a passion for good food. Always have, I love a nibble and a Splash, which is why we're here. I have three beautiful children. Um, four, if you include my husband of nearly nine years, which we both love dearly, don't we? We do.
Krystal (01:28): I think he's my fourth child too. . Yeah. T
eagan (01:30): But he can hang a TV and fix it.
Krystal (01:32): He can .
Teagan (01:34): Um, starting multimillion dollar company businesses is becoming a little bit of a habit of mine. So, you know, we've got, we've got that kind of things to chat about. I'm in my wellness era. I'm loving looking after myself right now. We have so much to share on that, but I still probably can party anyone that's listening to this under the table .
Krystal (01:55): And you'll probably hear a bit more about that too.
Teagan (01:57): It's called Balance Baby
Krystal (01:58): Balance.
Teagan (01:59): All right, Krystal, who
Krystal (02:00): Are you? Well, yes, well, hi, I'm Krystal. Very similar story to Tegan. Uh, we're actually both in our thirties. She's just on the scale under thirties and I'm just bringing 'em in . Um, I've got three beautiful children as well. I've been married for just over 10 years to my loving husband. I live on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley in Gawler. So we're only about 15 minutes away from each other. I am a huge sports lover and just like Tegan Vintage Chef Co is like, it's not even a little baby anymore. She
Teagan (02:34): A big baby.
Krystal (02:34): Teenage teen. She was
Teagan (02:36): A 12 pounder. Yeah,
Krystal (02:37): She was big . It was a long birth, but we're, we're here now. Um, so yeah. And now all that's sort of, uh, out the way. How did we meet? T
eagan (02:48): Yeah, well we worked together. Well, you were best friends with my sister. Yeah. Not was. Still are best friends with my sister. And we, it was when I was starting Vintage Chef working at the Lord Lyndoch. You were working at the Lord Lyndoch too, which is a little restaurant in the main street of Lyndoch that my parents owned. Mm-Hmm. . So my family has always had restaurants from the day I was born forever, like literally the day I was born. So it's in my blood. Hospitality's in your blood too. You bloody love it. Mm-Hmm. . Um, but yeah, so we worked together at the Lord Vintage Chef Co. Was taking off and I said, Krystal, can you please help me? 'cause I dunno how to use a printer. ,
Krystal (03:23): You still don't know how to use a printer. I still
Teagan (03:25): Dunno how to use a printer, but that's why I have you. Yes. And you know, now vintage chef, co business manager slash pretty much do everything and I can kind of just oversee now, which is absolutely amazing. Mm-Hmm. . But yeah, so it's kind of definitely your baby as well. You've been there from the very start and I'm very grateful for you. Um, but yeah, so that's kind of how we met and that's how we are still doing what we're doing.
Krystal (03:49): Yeah. Just hit it off. We are just good at what we do. We
Teagan (03:52): Are just, we we're, you're the yin to my yang
Krystal (03:54): Aw . And yeah. Now we've got Vintage Chef Co sorted. It's Nibble + Splash, but that's been a little, you know, idea in the back of your brain for probably four years now, I reckon.
Teagan (04:05): Yeah. So NIbble + Splash, I remember getting the logo done by Brick Creative a while back because I was gonna do a little, um, kind of daytime or overnight retreats. at Airbnb is just teaching people how to host dinner parties and things like that. But it's now eventuated into a podcast, which you're listening to right now. And we've just launched our first Barossa Valley Edition Culinary Adventure Retreat. MmHmm. , which you can see all about on our website as well. But Nibble + Splash is about bringing people together with food and wine. Everybody loves a little bit of a nibble and a splash. The splash can also be water and the nibble can be a protein bowl. Like we're not all about bad things over. No. Well, it's all about balance. Balance. And you can ask me, is there anybody in the world? Or you can, you could tell me. There's nobody in the world that doesn't love a nibble and a splash like it is universal. So that's why I created this brand because Vintage Chef Co is running perfectly without me now, which is a dream come true thanks to people like you. And I just thought, what's next? Something that we can take worldwide, a brand that we can travel with. There'll be retreats in Bali. We might even end up doing retreats in Italy. Like who knows? Who knows? The world is our oyster. Absolutely. It'll be Oh, get it. Food oyster. Yeah.
Krystal (05:25): .
Teagan (05:26): It'll be nibble and splash your way around the world with Tegan and Krystal. It's gonna be awesome. Yeah. But yeah, it was just time to take it to the next level basically. And to use our years of experience in building businesses and everything that we've done to get ourselves here today to share with others and hopefully inspire others to do what they wanna do as well.
Krystal (05:49): Absolutely. And it's come with a lot of hard work and challenges, but a lot of rewards.
Teagan (05:55): Absolutely. Yeah. You can't get anywhere without the hard work, unfortunately. Unless you're born into generational wealth
Krystal (06:01): , which is what also we're trying to provide for our families. Um, . Oh, we, we can teach you, teach you our ways. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, so yeah, that's why NIbble + Splash came about pretty cool. I still can't believe that we're even sitting here recording this.
Teagan (06:19): I know. Insane. Insane. It really
Krystal (06:21): Is. So, some things that you can expect to hear, uh, listening to the podcast will be very much a little bit of everything. Business and growth and lifestyle. What are some episodes that we're gonna be doing?
Teagan (06:34): Yeah, so with Nibble + Splash, like the name is so universal, like I said, that we are not gonna be niched into anything. We're gonna be doing whatever we feel like on the day. Mm-Hmm. . Whether that's gonna be experiences with the business side of things, or whether it's gonna be something that's happened in our life, something funny that's happened, something that's gone massively wrong. , which there's a whole lot of them coming up.
Krystal (06:55): A whole lot of them coming up.
Teagan (06:56): So some of the topics we'll cover in the business side of things is business growth and when it's time to take the next step. Risk taking is a massive one for me. That's kind of personal and business, but definitely gonna get into that because so many people contact me saying that they just wanna do this, do that, and they're just scared. And I'm just, I'm gonna make you not scared,
Krystal (07:17): Just like you made me not scared to do the podcast. Yeah.
Teagan (07:20): Do you feel okay now you can
Krystal (07:22): Let go my hand now feel I'm good now . Sure.
Teagan (07:25): Uh, branding and marketing, that is really, really big one for us. Managing staff and hr. That's a big one for Krystal working with family. Yeah. We're gonna touch on all of that later on, but most of my family work with me, so, you know, that's something we need to talk about. How to start a business. That's a great one. Being a mum in business. How I pumped out three kids while starting a business. Mm. That
Krystal (07:49): Literally, yeah.
Teagan (07:50): , um, challenges and triumphs and then lifestyle things. Motherhood is obviously huge. The juggle is real. Our wedding experiences and what we would do in weddings because we host weddings now, health and fitness is huge. You know, that's a big part of our daily routine. Traveling and how we're gonna travel with this brand retreats even down to our birth stories, mate, we've
Krystal (08:14): Got some, they're gonna be some good episodes. We've
Teagan (08:15): Got some good birth stories. Yeah. I like yours the best about how you didn't know you were pregnant, .
Krystal (08:19): Oh yeah. That's a whole different episode, . Yeah.
Teagan (08:22): So anyway, we won't say too much, but we have a lot to talk about. That's the bottom line here.
Krystal (08:27): And we've got so many friends and business relationships that we've, you know, made along the way and we'll be able to jump in, have so many interviews with industry experts. We are even gonna do some restaurant reviews.
Teagan (08:39): Oof. Yes. Yeah.
Krystal (08:40): It's gonna be cool. And I'm making Teagan do Bali diary series.
Teagan (08:45): Yeah, well that's fine. I'll go back. . Yeah.
Krystal (08:48): , I guarantee you, you do not know someone that's gone to Bali as much as Tegan.
Teagan (08:52): And also tax one would be good for business. Ooh, yes. Like what, what you can claim and what you can't. And you know, the blurred lines. Mm-Hmm. Might have to get Delia on .
Krystal (09:04): Delia are you listening? Delia .
Teagan (09:06): Straight down the line.
Krystal (09:07): But yeah, on top of all of that, we would absolutely love to know what you guys wanna hear from us on this podcast. You know, is it advice, some funny stories. We'll pop a few question boxes up on Instagram over the coming weeks once these have all been released and yeah, it's gonna be exciting. I actually can't wait to see what people think.
Teagan (09:25): Yeah. And please actually write in the question boxes, , because generally it's just crickets. . I'm like, Krystal, can you write in my question box ?
Krystal (09:34): And then my husband writes inappropriate things in there that we can't talk about anyway. Yeah.
Teagan (09:38): So we really do actually wanna hear from you don't think it's silly what you ask for or anything like that. It actually gives us a purpose for what we're doing. Yeah. And social media and community. Where we can find the Nibble + Splash Podcast is gonna be at the end of all of our podcast. Mm-Hmm, isn't it? MmHmm. Like the outro. It's gonna have where to click, where to find it. And don't worry, it's gonna be all over our stories and social media whenever these are live, because I know people have been asking me for a very long time now, but August the first is when it came live, so,
Krystal (10:10): Yep. It's exciting. Mm-Hmm. , you'll be able to jump on our website, see everything that we do from meal prep to purchasing a retreat ticket. It's pretty cool.
Teagan (10:18): Yeah, right. Yeah. We didn't even talk about what Vintage Chef Co is, did we?
Krystal (10:22): That's a whole extra episode. Is it?
Teagan (10:25): Okay. Okay.
Krystal (10:27): So yeah, we would love to know what everyone thought of today's little introductory episode, and we're excited to see what everyone thinks and we'll chat to you next
